sophonts:dragon

The dragons (Classical Âirumâli: lař) are a species of six-legged, blue-blooded, psionically powerful reptiloid fliers, similar in appearance to Western dragons. Usually 70' (21 m) long, dragons have lived on Daia for 313 million years. Their immense psionic (and sometimes also magical) power have led some to theorize that dragons were sent by the safir from their ancient homeworld to terraform Daia. Nowadays, dragons often spend most of their adult lives hibernating, though a surprising number are skilled enough in psychometabolism to assume safiroid forms, or reduce their basal metabolic rate to the point where hibernation is no longer necessary.
