Daia, the foremore of the two safir homeworlds, is a small terrestrial planet orbiting Enâra at a distance of 180 Gm (111.8 million mi). It is about ¾ the radius and ½ the mass of Terra, rotates every 72 ks (20 hours), and takes 457.5 Terran days to orbit Enâra.
Daia has two moons: Itrâei /i.traː˥˩.ɛ.i/, a small, sandstone-colored moon that orbits Daia once every 22 local days, and Veřâssi /βɛ.raː˥˩s.si/, a larger, gray moon that orbits Daia once every 50 days. Itrâei is named after the demigoddess of wealth, while Veřâssi is named after the demigoddess of poisons and the mother goddess of Daia’s nagas, who had a rivalry with Itrâei, due to her constant refusal to enrich the naga, which led to her (mythological) death at Veřâssi’s fangs.
Daia is a non-tectonic planet; that is to say, its lithosphere is not comprised of separate plates like Terra’s, but is instead a single, unbroken sphere (more or less). This means that there are no earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. This also means that its topography is far less severe than Terra’s. To wit, the elevation of the Continent gradually increases in all directions towards the Worldspine Mountains in the north, among which is Daia’s highest peak, Aran (16'834 ft; 5'131 m), one of the holiest sites in the primary safir religion, Ilâþnarâri, and a city-state of the same name.
Countries
In the western subcontinent, girded by the Ikran ⁊ Macilu rivers, by Lake Falae, and by the Home Ocean, is the Queendom of Firnerámnen, the de facto most important country in the Safir Alliance, and home to two of its capital cities, Aňira <fc #00ff00>/a.ŋi.ɾa/</fc> ⁊ Qalani <fc #00ff00>/qa.la.ni/</fc>. This matriarchal nation of 194 million is reigned over by the head of the Ašura clan and ex officio Safir Empress, who is presently Vâstra II. It operates as a federal strong constitutional monarchy and consensus parliamentary democracy, with the Queen as head of state and the Minister-President, who must by consensus command the confidence of the legislature, as head of government.
